WYOMING DEMOCRATS RELEASE COUNTY CAUCUS
INFORMATION
Deadline to register is Feb. 22; deadline for presidential candidates is today; 17-year-olds who will be 18 by Nov. 4 may participate
CASPER - The Wyoming Democratic Party reminds voters that they have until Feb. 22 to register as Democrats in their counties order to be eligible to participate in Wyoming's county caucuses and conventions, scheduled for March 8 across the state.
An up-to-date schedule with times and locations for each county's Democratic caucus follows at the end of this release.
Today, Feb. 8, marks the deadline for presidential candidates to submit their paperwork in order to appear on the ballots in Wyoming's 2008 county caucuses, according to the state party's Delegate Selection Plan, adopted last April by the Wyoming Democratic Party State Central Committee.
State Democratic Party Chairman John Millin said people who are 17 years old, and who will turn 18 on or before Nov. 4, are eligible to register with their county clerks and participate in the Democratic county caucuses and conventions.
"Our Delegate Selection Plan allows any Wyoming resident who will be 18 on Election Day to participate in the March 8 caucuses," Chairman Millin said. "This is a great opportunity for young people to get their first taste of involvement in our political process."
Seventeen-year-olds who will be 18 by Election Day can register to vote with their county clerk's office just like anyone else under the provisions of Wyoming Statute 22-3-102(a)(ii).
